Senior Farewell Projects
My group includes Stephanie, Samantha, and myself. Our project is about what the seniors of RCHS will and will not miss about high school. We had everyone stutter when we asked what they will miss about RCHS. When we asked what they will not miss about RCHS, they listed all the things they will not miss. I contributed by getting video footage for our video.

My booth had a trifold that had a basic overview of what my capstone project was about. My project was about the problems in the nursing field when it comes to communication skills. the hardest part of the project was making the trifold because I am not creative at all. The most fun part was celebrating afterwards by going to In N Out Burger.

Info graphic Poster

my info graphic poster relates to my capstone project by learning about the nursing field. The info graphic does not necessarily discuss the problem and solution of my capstone (communication problems in the nursing field), but rather just facts about what it means to be a nurse. This tool will be used just to understand who the nurse is and why a nurse is important in the medical field.

My video was not as great as I wanted it to be, but I only had a limited amount of time and supplies. if I could do something, different, I would allow more time for myself to finish my PSA, and also add music. The easiest part about creating my PSA was using a Prezi, and the hardest part was having to use Screencastomatic.

My PSA

Key points my that public service announcement will emphasize are nurses and how they are essential to running a hospital. My visuals will have nurses working and doing their job, but they will fade away from the view after a few seconds. There will also be background music. At the end, I will have words that say something along the lines of, "What is a hospital without nurses? Thank them too." This PSA will be fairly serious.

I will first start my PSA with nurses and doctors doing what they do best: saving lives. Then, as the video goes on, I will have the nurses fade from the picture and have the patient die. Then, I will have my statement of interest, which is helping the public know that nurses have a hard job, and a hospital could not be a hospital without them.

This PSA is about Shriners Hospital for children. This is a good PSA because it has the Flinstones discussing the announcement rather than a doctor, so it has a childlike feel to it rather than it being a serious announcement.

This PSA is about BC Children's hospital. they are asking for donations to help sick kids. They use a child who seems to be ill and requires medical assistance. this PSA tries to get the viewer to donate by using emotion.

How to Write a Public Service Announcement

After reading this article, I now understand that a PSA is simply to inform viewers about what is going on in the world. Although the audience sees it as just another commercial, it can be much more than that. I learned from this article that you don't need to be a creative person to make an effective PSA. I am actually very happy about this because I am not creative at all.

Capstone project statement of intention

My goals of this project is to inform viewers that the nursing field is struggling. Many people believe that being a nurse is being weak, but in reality, pursuing a career in the nursing field is very difficult to do, and it is a very rewarding job.
The nursing field is important because nurses are the "backbone" of the hospital. They assist doctors, make patients comfortable, and try to make the best out of any situation.
These goals fit my career objectives because I plan on pursing a career in the nursing field and I want people to be properly informed on what I do at my job.
My project gives back to society by informing society that nurses do a lot more labor than people think they do. Nurses, just like every other medical help, should be thanked for their hard work.
